What type of printer is this?
The printer is a large format dye sublimation printer.

What is sublimation?
In dye–sublimation, heat–reactive dyes are printed onto a coated transfer paper. When these dyes are heated to various surfaces, they vaporize and permeate the surface of the object (known as a substrate) before it returns to solid form. The result is brilliant, photographic images, that don’t fade or wear, straight from your printer.

What is the print quality?
The printer produces graphics from 360 to 2880 DPI. Process screen-printing is approximately 72 DPI. The color gamut of our inks is also wider than dye and has a much higher density which results in brilliant, saturated colors.

How many colors will the printer produce?
By using the 4-color printing process (CMYK) it can produce over 16 million colors.

How is the ink supplied to the printer?
By 4 ink cartridges (CMYK).

Is there any post treating of the garment after printing?
Yes. To cure the ink, use a regular heat-press set at 390 degrees F and press for 40 seconds. We sell a wide range of heat presses by Geo Knight, Insta, and Hotronix.

What can it print on?
The sublimation printer prints on sublimation paper which can then be applied to polyester fabrics and other materials, including banners, flags, pennants, athletic apparel, snowboards, helmets, mugs, mouse pads, clocks, polyester-coated ceramics and tiles, carpets, floor graphics, POP displays, posters, and more.

What is the process?
Once you have loaded the media into the printer, open your artwork in a RIP program, such as Ergosoft. Size the image and print it. Cut the media off of the printer. Next put the printed side of the paper face down on the substrate and cure it in a heat press at 390 degrees F and press for 40 seconds.

Can it print on dark color shirts?
It depends on the color of the garment, but the design has to be darker than the substrate.

Will the ink withstand washing?
Yes, the ink is very durable. In most cases it is equal to or better than screen printing.

What is the maximum printing size?
The maximum printing size is 42.2 inches wide.

What is the machine's size and weight?
The printer is 69.0" wide x 26.0" deep x 38.0" high. It weighs about 172 lbs.
